Safety & facilities

The part we refuse to make vague.

Every nursery website says "safety is our priority." We'd rather show the specifics — how the building is secured, who's checked and how, and what happens if something goes wrong — than ask you to take a slogan on trust.

Ofsted-registered provider 100% DBS-checked staff

Building & access

A purpose-built space, secured on purpose

Controlled entry

Keypad / fob entry at the main door — no one enters or leaves without staff release.

Signed collection only

Children are released only to named, authorised adults confirmed against your account — with a password system for anyone unfamiliar.

Enclosed outdoor space

Fully fenced garden, visible from indoors, with age-appropriate zoning between rooms.

CCTV on entry & communal areas

Coverage of entry points and shared spaces, never inside toileting/nappy-change areas.

Our people

Vetted before they meet your child, not after

Every adult with unsupervised access to children holds an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, verified before their first shift — not "in progress." References are taken directly from previous early years settings, not just provided contacts.

Staff-to-child ratios meet or exceed the EYFS statutory minimums in every room, every day — including during staff breaks and training, when many settings quietly let ratios slip.

Safeguarding

A named Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), trained to current statutory guidance, oversees every safeguarding decision.

All staff complete safeguarding, paediatric first aid, and food hygiene training before working unsupervised with children.

Our full safeguarding policy is available on request and will be published here as a downloadable document before opening.

Health & hygiene

The unglamorous details that matter most

Allergy & dietary management

Every allergy logged, displayed in the kitchen, and cross-checked at every meal — not just noted at registration.

Illness policy

Clear exclusion periods shared with every family, applied consistently to protect the whole room.

Paediatric first aid

At least one paediatric first-aid trained adult on site, and present on every outing, at all times.

Registration

Ofsted registration

E‑Star Nursery's Ofsted Unique Reference Number (URN) and inspection report will be published here and linked directly to the Ofsted website once registration is complete. We won't claim a rating we don't have.

Ask us anything about safety, in person.

We'd rather answer a hard question on a tour than dodge it on a webpage.
